Making A Record In 1942
The band plays and is mixed live to the cutting lathe. Then the laborious, multistep, and rather chemically-intense manufacturing process is begun, leading ultimately to the pressing of multiple shellac disks — available in the homes of our older relatives if we are lucky, or in the yard sales and flea markets down the street if we’re patient … and lucky.
