Boston Symphony Orchestra – First Concert

Feeling like a bit of history. Here’s a photo of the first concert of the Boston Symphony Orchestra
on October 22, 1881 in the Old Boston Music Hall. Hey, who let the Harp sit up front?
Symphony Hall, as we now know it, opened almost exactly 19 years later, on October 15, 1900.
It’s a band — and a building — that all recordingologists should hear. Tickets and more info at bso.org.
And if you are using the Large Warm Hall preset in almost any reverb, you are hearing a program trying to emulate a hall just like this one. Clap and ponder.
